Recipe Remake: Miznon’s Folded Cheeseburger Pita
A juicy, melty, pita-wrapped ode to one of Tel Aviv’s most iconic bites.
You may think a cheeseburger doesn’t belong on an Israeli restaurant’s menu, but think again. The cheeseburger pita from Miznon reinvents the classic by folding the burger in half and using a scooped pita as the bun. The result is a crispy-edged, cheesy, delicious, less-messy burger! Avoid the long lines with this recipe & make it for yourself in the comfort of your own home!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Burger:
Ground beef 80/20
Salt + pepper
Shredded Cheddar cheese
Sliced tomato
Sliced sour pickles
Sour cream
Fresh pita bread
Garlic aioli:
1/2 cup mayo
2-3 garlic cloves, finely grated or minced
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
Directions:
Season your ground beef generously with salt and pepper, then shape into a flat, 6” round patty.
Heat a pan over medium-high heat until ripping hot. Add the patty and immediately lay the cheese over half the burger, letting it melt and spill over the edges by about 1–2 inches. (This will give you that delicious, crispy cheese skirt.)
Let the burger cook undisturbed for about 6–8 minutes, until a crust forms and the cheese is bubbling and golden. Then fold the patty in half, enclosing the melted cheese. Cook for another 2–3 minutes to finish.
Slice off the top of your pita to open up the pocket. Generously spread a mix of garlic aioli and sour cream inside.
Add in burger, tomato and pickles. Enjoy!
